Polish Startup NEVOMO Launches Strategic MagRail Pilot in India with DP World and Deendayal Port Authority

Polish deeptech startup NEVOMO has taken a bold step onto the global stage by launching a pilot project in India for its revolutionary MagRail technology. The initiative is part of a new agreement signed with DP World, one of the world’s largest supply chain logistics companies, and Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), a major Indian seaport overseen by the government. The project marks a significant milestone in the global commercialization of Poland’s advanced rail technology.

The agreement outlines the development of a 750-meter pilot MagRail system at Deendayal Port in Gujarat. The pilot will explore the use of autonomously powered railcars—propelled by linear motors—on existing rail infrastructure to move cargo within port premises. NEVOMO’s MagRail solution is considered a bridge technology between conventional rail and next-generation Hyperloop systems, providing electromagnetic propulsion without the need for building entirely new tracks.

Unlike traditional maglev trains that require expensive new infrastructure, MagRail works with existing rail lines, allowing for cost-effective modernization. The system enables automation, increased throughput, and zero-emission operations, critical advantages for ports and logistics hubs seeking decarbonization and efficiency in their operations.

The partnership reflects a growing global interest in scalable, clean transport solutions. With Indian ports under immense pressure to expand capacity while meeting sustainability goals, MagRail could offer a transformative boost to portside cargo operations—streamlining logistics while cutting energy use and carbon emissions.

“This pilot is a crucial step in validating the potential of MagRail technology in large-scale logistics operations,” said Przemek Pączek, CEO of Nevomo. “We’re honored to partner with global leaders like DP World and Deendayal Port Authority to demonstrate how our solution can modernize and decarbonize freight transportation.”

DP World’s involvement further underlines the commercial potential. As a multinational operating in over 60 countries, the company has shown strong commitment to AI, automation, and green mobility in recent years. Deendayal Port, one of India’s most strategically important gateways for trade, also serves as an ideal testbed given its complexity, scale, and central role in regional commerce.

Founded in 2017, NEVOMO has already received recognition from the European Commission and attracted funding from major EU innovation programs. It has previously tested its MagRail technology at the longest full-scale test track of its kind in Europe, located in Nowa Sarzyna, Poland. The company’s ambition is to evolve into a European tech champion that redefines rail mobility worldwide.

If successful, the Indian pilot could unlock commercial deployment of MagRail not just in ports, but also across freight corridors and intermodal logistics parks throughout Asia and beyond.
