Invest Europe Releases 2025 Private Equity Activity Report

Investing in Europe 2025: Private Equity Report Tracks Record Fundraising and Adds Listed Private Capital Data

Invest Europe has released its flagship “Investing in Europe: Private Equity Activity 2025” report, providing one of the most comprehensive datasets on the continent’s fundraising, investment, and divestment trends. Compiled from more than 1,750 private equity and venture capital firms, the annual survey is regarded as a primary source of intelligence for understanding the evolution of Europe’s PE and VC landscape.

This year’s release marks a notable upgrade: for the first time, the report includes listed private capital investment data, acknowledging the growing importance of public listings as a route for investors into private markets. The expansion reflects both the diversification of capital structures in the sector and the increasing hybridization between private and public equity strategies in Europe.

Alongside the traditional PDF version, Invest Europe now offers an interactive online dashboard, available to members, that enables users to explore country-specific trends, segment analysis, and historical data spanning back to 2007. The dashboard offers access to underlying raw data, country-level breakdowns, and a promotional toolkit for social media sharing (login required for members).

The new data reveals a continued shift toward larger buyout funds, increasing cross-border capital flow, and the resilience of venture capital investments despite macroeconomic headwinds. While total fundraising dipped slightly compared to 2022’s post-COVID peak, investment activity across Europe remained strong in 2024, with a notable uptick in impact-driven funds, climate tech, and dual-use deep tech.

Key insights from the 2025 report:

  • Inclusion of listed private capital data for the first time

  • Interactive dashboard with detailed data filtering and visualization tools

  • Fundraising momentum remains stable, with select regions (CEE, Nordics) outperforming historical averages

  • Private equity continues to play a vital role in Europe’s transition economy, from digital to climate-focused sectors

  • Divestment activity showed increased discipline, with secondary sales and IPOs accounting for a higher share

The annual report, supported by Invest Europe’s methodology and research framework, continues to set the benchmark for transparency and data reliability in the private equity sector.
