NAWA aims to support Polish scientists
The aim of the program is to enable outstanding Polish scientists to return to the country and take up employment at Polish universities, scientific institutes or research institutes. The program creates resident scientists in foreign research centers, the possibility of creating your own project group in Poland and conducting research in optimal conditions. National universities, scientific institutes and research institutes can recruit specialists with international experience and knowledge of the latest research trends in their scientific discipline. The program includes two paths, depending on the stage of the scientific career:
Young scientist (Junior scientist track)
Experienced scientist (Experienced scientist track)
A returning scientist can be a person who:
has Polish citizenship
has at least a Ph.D. degree (for the Junior scientist track, obtained not earlier than 7 years before applying)
during the period indicated in the recruitment announcement, she worked as a researcher at a foreign university, research institute, or research department of a company and did not live and work in Poland at that time
can demonstrate scientific achievements that are internationally recognized and stand out in the context of the discipline and career stage
gained experience in leading a research team or a research project (for the Experienced scientist path) as part of scientific work abroad
The financial program includes:
scholarship of a returning scientist
design group awards
an invitation prize
resettlement of the returning scientist
financing of the financial component from the funds of the National Science Center or the application component of funds from the funds of the National Center for Research and Development
As part of the Junior science track, projects lasting from 24 to 36 months, with NAWA funding for the scholarship being PLN 1,143,200. In the Experienced Scientist path, projects from 36 to 48 months are possible with NAWA funding up to PLN 2,397,600. Additionally, in the case of research that can be obtained for the NCN research component - a starting grant of up to PLN 200,000, and in the case of applied research and development work for the NCBR application component of up to PLN 400,000. The allocation in the call for proposals is PLN 16 million.
Deadline for applications: from May 22, 2023 to August 31, 2023, until 15:00:00 (local time for Warsaw)
