Noctiluca Secures Strategic Letter of Intent for OLED Expansion
Noctiluca Signs Intent to Raise EUR 2.5–3.3M from East Asian Tech Fund to Accelerate Global OLED Play [deeptech, materials science]
Polish deeptech company Noctiluca, a leading innovator in next-generation OLED emitter materials, has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with an East Asian technology investor to outline terms for a future strategic investment. The contemplated deal involves the acquisition of newly issued shares worth between EUR 2.5M and EUR 3.3M (PLN 11M–14.6M), with funds earmarked for scaling engineering capacity and launching a tech-commercial hub in East Asia — the heartland of OLED production.
The unnamed investor is described as a well-established fund managing multiple vehicles, with a proven track record of growing hardware and materials science ventures in collaboration with global R&D institutions and top-tier electronics manufacturers.

A Cross-Continental Pivot Toward Asia
Noctiluca’s move signals a calculated expansion strategy: by co-locating technical and application teams near Asia’s high-volume OLED supply chain, the company aims to accelerate Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and Joint Development Projects (JDPs) with major panel and display makers.
This isn’t just symbolic outreach — it positions Noctiluca closer to decision-makers and factory floors in a fiercely competitive sector dominated by Korean and Chinese giants. Having recently expanded its patent portfolio and inked several R&D collaborations, the company now seeks a more permanent foothold in the region to secure scale-up projects and industrial integration.
Background: Europe’s OLED Challenger
Founded in Toruń, Noctiluca is one of Europe’s rare contenders in the global race for organic electroluminescent materials — chemicals used in next-gen displays, lighting, and wearables. Their proprietary emitter compounds offer high stability, efficiency, and cost advantages over incumbent solutions.
Listed on the NewConnect market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Noctiluca has already drawn attention from EU-based venture investors and scientific partners. However, this latest LOI suggests a turning point toward operational globalization and industrial validation.
Why It Matters
The proposed investment not only boosts Noctiluca’s financial runway, but also hints at wider shifts in the European deeptech landscape: commercialization increasingly means going East. Asia’s dominance in fabrication requires local presence, fast iterations, and deeper integration between materials startups and device manufacturers.
If finalized, the deal could serve as a blueprint for other Polish and European scaleups looking to go beyond labs and pilot lines toward real-world tech adoption in global markets.
