Proteine Resources raises €12M to redefine functional pet nutrition
Backed by Radix Ventures and the European Commission, Polish startup Proteine Resources secures nearly €12M to launch the world’s first autonomous alternative protein factory.
In a bold move for the European biotech and pet food sectors, Proteine Resources has announced new investment from Radix Ventures, complementing the €9.5 million it secured in July 2025 from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. The total financing for 2025 now stands at €12 million, empowering the company to scale its breakthrough product EntoPro™ — a patented functional ingredient engineered to transform daily pet nutrition.
The fresh funding will support the construction of the world’s first fully autonomous alternative protein factory, as well as expand a pilot facility in Poland’s Mazowieckie region. These moves will increase production tenfold to 100 tons annually, marking a critical step toward commercial-scale distribution. Proteine Resources plans to launch its first private label formulations in Q1 2026, targeting pet food companies seeking healthier, science-backed alternatives to commodity proteins.

Reinventing the Base Ingredient
At the heart of Proteine’s innovation lies EntoPro™, a proprietary protein blend derived from mushrooms and designed to exceed traditional nutritional benchmarks. EntoPro™ has demonstrated 80%+ palatability rates in animal trials and offers a complete amino acid profile equivalent to beef, alongside natural prebiotic properties that may support gut health and reduce inflammation — a key concern in conventional dry pet foods.
Proteine Resources doesn’t just promise better pet food — it’s engineering a functional shift in the industry. In a category long dominated by low-grade proteins and marketing gimmicks, this biotech startup aims to deliver genuine health outcomes using sustainable, plant-based ingredients grounded in scientific rigor.
A New Benchmark for Polish Deep-Tech
Co-founded by Bartłomiej Roszkowski and Konrad Włodarczyk, the company represents a rare fusion of biotech depth and go-to-market expertise. As Wojciech Ratymirski, Partner at Radix Ventures, explained:
“The moment we met Bartłomiej and Konrad, we knew this was different. Their vision combines scientific excellence with commercial precision — a rare blend in deep-tech.”
Proteine’s backers include SMOK Ventures, Bitspiration VC, and the European Commission’s EIC Fund, highlighting a strong pan-European support network for Polish innovation. The company also maintains advisory ties with EIT Food, CK Legal, and a network of biotech and agri-tech specialists across Europe and North America.
Global Momentum and a Mission Beyond Money
Proteine’s CEO will be touring Slush (Helsinki), Toronto Business Development Centre, and Pennsylvania’s mushroom industry hub in the coming weeks to explore further partnerships and global expansion. But beyond capital and geography, the founders view this moment as symbolic.
“€12 million is meaningful — but what matters more is the shift we represent,” Roszkowski wrote. “Pet food needs a reset. With EntoPro™, we’re not just replacing animal protein — we’re upgrading it with real functionality, transparency, and measurable health benefits.”
With more than 460 pilot implementations already in motion and early traction in EU clinical validation, Proteine Resources is building more than a product. It’s shaping a new category of precision pet nutrition, one based on measurable outcomes, not market trends.
As Poland continues to establish its foothold in deep-tech and biotech frontiers, Proteine Resources stands as a beacon of what’s possible when science meets sustainability — and gets funded to scale.
