Katowice-based SR Robotics secures €8.4 million from Vinci Fund to scale dual-use underwater robotics and reinforce national autonomy in maritime security and offshore infrastructure.

SR Robotics (SRR), a cutting-edge Polish company specializing in underwater robotics, has secured €8.4 million in fresh funding from Vinci Fund, a venture arm managed by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK). The investment underscores growing national and regional interest in maritime autonomy, dual-use technologies, and critical infrastructure protection.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Katowice, SR Robotics develops autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles (AUVs and ROVs) designed for both civil and defense applications. Its flagship robots are used in seabed mapping, offshore infrastructure inspection, and the detection and neutralization of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and chemical weapons.

The company’s Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model—allowing institutions to access its technology on-demand—will be significantly scaled as a result of the funding. The capital will also support the construction of a Remote Operations and Analysis Centre, a training hub for unmanned vehicle operators, and new deployments in the offshore wind sector, reinforcing Poland’s energy and strategic independence.

SRR’s current portfolio includes:

  • AUV Belona: A modular, torpedo-shaped autonomous drone capable of seabed mapping and geophysical surveys, with 12-hour operational capacity.

  • ROV Octopus: A 138kg heavy-duty, remotely operated robot with 60kg payload capacity, used for port inspections and underwater interventions.

  • ROV Nautilus: A lightweight inspection drone, ideal for hard-to-reach underwater structures, such as pipelines and harbor reinforcements.

Beyond robotics, SRR is investing in AI-based sensor data interpretation and object recognition, enhancing mission automation and strategic data security in Poland’s maritime zone. As BGK Chairman Mirosław Czekaj emphasized, the investment is aligned with BGK’s 2025–2030 strategy to foster innovation in defense and high-tech sectors.

Strategic Significance

The deal represents more than a financial milestone. It signals a pivotal moment in Poland’s path toward technological sovereignty in underwater surveillance. Historically reliant on foreign technologies, Poland now aims to build domestic capabilities to secure its Baltic Sea interests—particularly amid increasing threats to subsea cables, pipelines, and offshore assets.

SR Robotics’ capabilities have already garnered national attention. In April 2024, the company’s technologies were presented to Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, marking a step toward official adoption. With the Baltic region under growing geopolitical scrutiny, SR Robotics positions Poland as a credible player in autonomous maritime security and offshore innovation. Vinci Fund’s €8.4 million investment serves as both a commercial boost and a strategic endorsement of this vision.
