Energy giant ORLEN launches 15th edition of its Skylight Accelerator, inviting startups to tackle over 20 real-world industrial challenges across energy, logistics, and AI applications.

Poland’s largest energy company and one of Central Europe’s most influential corporations, ORLEN, has launched the 15th edition of its flagship innovation program—the Skylight Accelerator. This open call invites startups from Poland and around the world to submit cutting-edge technological solutions tailored to ORLEN Group’s industrial ecosystem. Applications are open until 28 July 2025.

The current round presents over 20 specific technological challenges, covering diverse areas such as:

  • Autonomous catering systems for industrial sites

  • AI and thermal imaging-based detection of fuel residue in tankers

  • Advanced energy management for energy communities

  • Analytical tools for low-voltage grid monitoring using smart meter data

Unlike traditional accelerators focused on pitch decks and demo days, Skylight’s core promise is real-world deployment. Startups are offered direct access to ORLEN’s infrastructure, expert mentorship, operational data, and compensated pilot projects designed for commercial scalability. In previous editions, more than 900 startups applied across 300+ defined challenges, with 40 selected pilot programs rolled out across ORLEN’s operations. Several of these pilots have already demonstrated tangible impact:

  • Inprocess (Spain) built a digital twin in collaboration with ORLEN Płock, identifying process efficiencies of up to 10%, with potential replication across other sites.

  • Supplai (Netherlands) developed AI-based rail tanker marking identification, significantly reducing logistical handling time and regulatory risks.

  • Anzonia (Poland) delivered predictive models to optimize refinery processes, reducing raw material usage and improving forecasting accuracy.

ORLEN’s position as a vertically integrated, multi-energy powerhouse—spanning oil refining, petrochemicals, renewable energy, retail, and logistics—makes it a strategic partner for early-stage industrial technologies seeking market validation and long-term scaling.

With this 15th edition, ORLEN reaffirms its commitment to becoming a European innovation leader while advancing industrial digitization and sustainability. Startups ready to take their technology from lab to field are encouraged to apply directly via www.orlen.pl, under the “Innovations” section.
