📅 Friday, December 19, 2025 – Free Online Talk: Leveraging Tech for Good, [Best for Data Scientists, Social Impact Practitioners, Tech Volunteers] [FREE]
How can technologists meaningfully contribute to social good, beyond commercial use cases and software delivery? This online session hosted by WBS CODING SCHOOL brings together practitioners from CorrelAid, one of Europe’s most active Data4Good communities, to explore how data, analytics and engineering skills can power real societal change. Designed as a focused, impact driven hour, the event highlights the practical ways in which digital talent can strengthen non profits, inform public initiatives, and support evidence based decision making.
CorrelAid operates a decentralised network of local chapters across Germany that match technically skilled volunteers with organisations in need of modern data solutions. Their projects range from data cleaning for NGOs to predictive modelling for social research to evaluation tools for policy work. This session offers a detailed look into their model, the challenges and opportunities of tech for good initiatives, and how individuals at all career levels can get involved. The talk emphasises not only the technical dimension but also the organisational and ethical considerations that define effective social impact work.
The event is hosted by WBS CODING SCHOOL, a pan European training environment dedicated to making careers in technology accessible, inclusive and industry relevant. In addition to running intensive courses in AI, data, UX and engineering, the school nurtures a community committed to continuous learning and positive societal contribution. The collaboration with CorrelAid aligns with the school’s mission to show students and professionals how technology can create value far beyond commercial boundaries.
What you will learn
Participants will gain an understanding of how Data4Good projects are structured, the role of volunteers in multi stakeholder settings, and the types of technical skills that can translate into measurable social outcomes. The speakers will walk through examples of past CorrelAid initiatives, outlining typical workflows, project constraints, and the long term impact on partner organisations. The discussion will also touch on career and volunteering pathways for individuals who want to support the social sector while continuing to develop professionally in tech.
