Cloud at the top – Microsoft Tech Summit in Warsaw
Two days of meetings, over 2.5 thousand participants from 23 European countries, 147 thematic sessions, 22 technical workshops, 20 Microsoft experts - just selected numbers describing the most important technological event in this part of Europe. For the first time, the technological epicenter of the region - Microsoft Tech Summit - was organized in Warsaw. The conference is devoted to what's new in the Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud environments.
The meeting topic was based on the challenges IT teams face, changing their role under the influence of business expectations and technological innovations. That is why the key topic discussed during several meetings is cloud computing. Migration to the cloud environment, development of analytical capabilities, building applications based on Microsoft Azure, and cloud compliance with GDPR are just a few topics covered in the sessions over the next two days.
“Microsoft Tech Summit is an important event for organizations of all sizes, from third sector organizations and startups to large enterprises. Each employs people who, thanks to technology, contribute to the fact that the digital future is approaching us faster and faster. Suppose we add Polish intellectual value, which spreads worldwide thanks to solution creators from Poland. In that case, we have a wonderful knowledge from which all specialists who want to develop digital culture can draw," said Mark Loughran, General Director of Microsoft in Poland, welcoming the guests at the event.
“Azure is a cloud that meets the most stringent requirements of the largest customers and government institutions. Azure also opens up new opportunities for all customers who focus on innovation in four key areas: increasing the productivity of developers and IT specialists, hybrid cloud, AI solutions, and in the area of security, privacy, and cost control,” says Jeffrey Snover, Technical Fellow, Azure Infrastructure and Management Group, who delivered the keynote speech at the meeting.
Another area of interest is collaboration and productivity offered as part of the Microsoft 365 solutions dedicated to productivity in the modern workplace. Building intelligent applications using Microsoft Graph, collaboration within Microsoft Teams, configuration, and management of M365 are just a few of the selected functionalities that respond to the needs of changing employee habits - by 2020, 42% of employees globally will work in a more mobile way. The topic of application security is equally important, especially since 74% of business experts admit that they expect an attack within the next year. Security-related topics were also trendy during the conference, especially news related to Windows Defender in the latest version of the system and Advanced Threat Analytics in the Azure environment.
“Workplaces are transforming, just like people who enter the labor market - changes include, among others, their dynamics and habits. IT specialists are at the center of these changes, creating solutions and managing projects, especially those at the interface with business. For IT, this means an evolution in the way of thinking about the tools provided to the organization. Microsoft 365 integrates the best functionalities of Windows 10, Office 365, Enterprise Mobility and security, creating a complete, intelligent, and secure solution. It allows us to simplify management, better respond to current security challenges, and create a truly modern workplace and user communication," emphasizes Craig Dewar, Senior Director of Windows 10.
Microsoft Tech Summit is also an opportunity to discuss the position of women as leaders of digital changes in organizations. Women holding top positions on the management boards of companies such as Siemens Poland, Orange, Mercedes-Benz Polska, Bosch Group, and Personal Brand Institute were invited to the conversation. Leaders of the indicated organizations will present their stories and observations regarding development and successes in the technology industry.
