The boost in capital was largely driven by a PLN 46 million commitment from PFR Ventures, the fund-of-funds platform under the Polish Development Fund (PFR). The investment was made under the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG) program, designed to stimulate national innovation by supporting specialized VC funds. Aegis Capital was one of five selected recipients in this round, marking a notable endorsement of its strategy and management team.
With this funding, Aegis Capital plans to invest in approximately 16 startups, offering up to PLN 3 million per company, with follow-on rounds available for those demonstrating commercial traction and scalable solutions. The fund’s focus spans digital health, longevity tech, biotech, personalized medicine, and preventive healthcare platforms—all areas identified as crucial for aging societies and long-term system resilience.
Led by a multidisciplinary team of experts in healthtech, venture finance, and startup development, Aegis Capital positions itself as an active investor capable of not only deploying capital but also accelerating product development and market entry for its portfolio companies. The fund is now finalizing regulatory and legal procedures, with official operations expected to launch in H1 2025.
The announcement follows growing momentum in Poland’s health innovation ecosystem. According to PFR Ventures, the goal of supporting Aegis Capital and similar funds is to “build long-term capacity in sectors with strategic social and economic impact.”
By emphasizing both financial return and measurable health outcomes, Aegis Capital joins a new generation of European VCs that prioritize mission-aligned investing. The fund’s launch is seen as a critical step in positioning Poland as a regional hub for health innovation and longevity technologies.
