Poland’s IDA Program Invites Startups to Shape the Future of Dual-Use Innovation
Apply by June 30 for a chance to enter defense and critical infrastructure markets with tailored startup support from PFR
In a world of rising geopolitical tensions and rapid technological shifts, innovation at the intersection of defense and civilian markets is no longer optional—it’s a necessity. Recognizing this, the IDA Program (Inwestycje i Adaptacja Technologii Podwójnego Zastosowania), operated by Polski Fundusz Rozwoju (PFR), has opened applications for its latest edition, aiming to bridge the gap between startups and the defense-tech ecosystem.
Subscribe to Startup Digest to stay ahead with the latest news, investments, and must-attend events.
The program is built for startups, SMEs, and innovators working on technologies with dual-use potential—solutions that can serve both civilian and military needs. It invites applications until June 30, 2025, with a live information webinar on June 24 at 12:00, including insights into DIANA NATO, another key pan-European initiative.
Bootcamps for the Bold
IDA is not just a grant—it’s a strategic bootcamp backed by real-world challenges. Participants meet with military units such as FORMOZA, defense groups like WB Group, and investors including Balnord and Expeditions. The program offers unique access to feedback, use-case validation, and investment conversations that are nearly impossible to achieve independently.
Why Apply?
Fast-Track into Defense Markets: If you’re tired of cold emails and PDFs going unread, IDA gives you a seat at the table.
Real Feedback from Real Stakeholders: Learn where your product fits, what’s missing, and how to adjust it for mission-critical environments.
Investor Exposure: Deep-tech is capital-intensive. The program connects you directly to VCs already investing in dual-use startups.
Reputation Building: For many teams, IDA is the starting point for becoming a trusted defense partner in Poland and Europe.
Who Should Apply?
You’re eligible if:
Your technology has both commercial and defense applications
You can show MVP functionality within 6 months
Your company is registered in Poland
You’re ready to explore serious market entry into defense
Dual Tracks: Space & Maritime
This year’s IDA Bootcamps focus on two domains:
1. Space & Safe Communications
Challenges include:
Radar satellite image fusion for critical infrastructure monitoring (ICEYE)
Target-tracking AI using optical and thermal vision (MoD)
GNSS antenna systems resilient to interference
Multi-target phased array antennas (RADMOR)
LEO object tracking and identification (ARGUS)
2. Safe Critical Maritime Infrastructure
Challenges include:
Autonomous sea drones and tactical buoys (FORMOZA)
Secure underwater communication systems (CTM)
Fusion of sensor networks for asset protection (PALANTIR)
Underwater drones for discreet resupply and inspections
Maritime mission-planning AI tools
Track Record of Success
In just two editions, IDA has:
Supported 45 teams across 700+ 1:1 meetings with military, industry, and investors
Helped startups like Satim and DefendEye secure VC backing
Sparked collaborations such as PUAV & Oderon and RB Defence & Revobeam
Laid the groundwork for a national dual-use solutions map
